CINEMACHISMO—Nominated for Lambda Literary Award

I knew there was a reason why I've been championing Sergio de la Mora's Cinemachismo: Masculinities and Sexuality in Mexican Film. It's because his treatment of Mexican film, gender studies, and theories of queer spectatorship is … well … good! If not great. If not essential. And I'm not the only one who thinks so! Sergio has just been nominated for the Arts and Culture category of the Lambda Literary Award. The awards are sponsored by the Lambda Literary Foundation, "the country's leading organization for LGBT literature . . . to celebrate LGBT literature and provide resources for writers, readers, booksellers, publishers, and librarians—the whole literary community."

As Adan Griego, Curator for Latin American, Mexican American & Iberian Collections at Stanford University toasts: "En hora buena to Sergio who currently teaches Film and Chicano Studies at UC Davis."
